As part of our 2023 objectives to ensure effective growth in strong partnerships BLOOCK is excited to announce our new collaboration with Barcelona-Catalunya Center Logistics (BCL).
It is an association that works to improve competitiveness and promote Catalonia as a Euro-Mediterranean logistics platform. BCL is made up of the main private and public companies in the logistics sector, professional associations, and entities dedicated to training and innovation, as well as other organizations and institutions for industrial, economic, and logistics research and development. BCL, through its different work committees, is a forum for analysis, debate, and reflection for professionals on the present and future of the logistics sector in Catalonia.
According to Santiago Bassols, CEO of BCL:
The incorporation of BLOOCK to the Barcelona-Catalunya Center Logistics gives content to one of BCL's priority objectives, which is to bring innovation closer to the logistics sector and support the implementation of production models linked to industry 4.0. In this sense, the blockchain technology developed by BLOOCK will allow the logistics industry to be promoted in today's particularly important aspects such as security and transparency, in addition to guaranteeing that the exchange of data in logistics chains is reliable and trustworthy.
Catalonia, which is in north-eastern Spain, is known for its strong logistics industry. The region has several major ports, including the Port of Barcelona and the Port of Tarragona, which serve as important hubs for the movement of goods throughout Europe. Additionally, Catalonia is well-connected to other parts of Spain and Europe through its extensive network of highways, railroads, and airports.
The logistics industry in Catalonia is quite diversified and it covers a wide range of sectors such as automotive, food and beverages, chemical, and e-commerce. The region is a strategic location for logistics companies due to its proximity to the Mediterranean and its excellent infrastructure. The logistics sector employs around 100,000 people in Catalonia, making it one of the most important sectors in terms of employment in the region.
In recent years, the logistics industry in Catalonia has been facing some challenges such as increasing competition from other regions of Spain and Europe, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the region's strategic location and excellent infrastructure continue to make it an attractive destination for such companies, and the sector is expected to continue to play a significant role in the Catalan economy in the future.
In aims to see future economic growth in Catalonia, blockchain technology can be used in logistics to create a transparent and secure system for tracking the movement of goods. This includes tracking the location, ownership, and condition of goods as they are transported from one location to another. Using blockchain, all parties involved in the logistics process, such as manufacturers, carriers, and retailers, can have access to real-time information about the status of the goods, which can help to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Additionally, blockchain's tamper-proof and decentralized nature can help to reduce the risk of fraud and errors in the logistics process.
According to the Chief Commercial Officer, Edgar Jordà believes; “This partnership will create exponential growth in the future for both parties. So, let us wait and see what the future brings!
Since blockchain technology is set to revolutionize many industries. logistic companies can benefit from blockchain by improving their processes. An effective method of tracking goods could significantly boost productivity levels and improve supply chains by enabling faster and more cost-efficient delivery. It also enhances the traceability of goods, enables better communication between partners, and, most importantly, simplifies access to monetary resources. Furthermore, BLOOCK can ensure data security and integrity as part of our mission.
